LINK roaster software now supports nine languages

Nucleus Coffee Tools has released a multilingual update to both its LINK App and LINK Studio software, making precision roasting more accessible to coffee professionals around the world.

The LINK App and LINK Studio are now available in nine languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean. This update forms part of the latest firmware release for the LINK sample roaster (version 7.0.18), and is available now to all existing users.

“Precision roasting is a global pursuit,” says Jordan Montgomery, Marketing and Events Manager at Nucleus Coffee Tools.

“We’ve listened to feedback from our international community. This update is a direct response to roasters who wanted to interact with the LINK platform in their own language.”

The LINK sample roaster is a compact, portable roasting system created in collaboration between Nucleus Coffee Tools and Kaffelogic, and is used by producers, Q graders, home and professional roasters, and competition baristas worldwide. The introduction of multilingual support reflects the growing number of users working at origin, in QC labs, and in educational environments.

“Roast development and sample analysis require accuracy,” says Jerome Rosler, a member of the Nucleus Coffee Tools R&D team.

“The LINK was designed to offer roasters full control over the roast curve, no matter where they are. By offering the software in multiple languages, we’re enabling more users to harness that level of precision without needing to navigate a language barrier.”

A tool designed for the coffee community

The LINK was developed to serve the global coffee community—particularly those at origin—by offering a highly capable sample roaster that could be used in any setting.

Unlike many small-format roasters, the LINK combines data-driven features, detailed control over airflow and temperature, and a user-friendly design optimised for portability. Crucially, it can operate anywhere with a stable power source, including farms and mills.

“The LINK was always about accessibility,” Jerome explains. “When we first developed it, we wanted to create a roaster that farmers and small producers could use to analyse their coffees—without needing to rely on expensive or bulky equipment.”

In this context, the addition of languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Indonesian plays a vital role. These are spoken in many of the world’s largest and most significant coffee-producing and consuming countries, some of which have had historically limited access to advanced roasting technology.

“We’ve seen an incredible uptake in usage across origin countries,” Jordan says, highlighting the growing demand for roasting technology in these regions.

“It was essential to make the LINK’s software more usable in regions where English isn’t the default. This update helps support that shift—helping producers better understand and present their coffees.”

How to update your LINK software and app

The multilingual update is included in the latest version of LINK’s Addis 4.1.2 firmware release (version 7.0.18), the previous version of which also introduced an extension to omni-roast profile packs and cosmetic improvements to the LINK App interface.

For many users, the update will be prompted automatically when the roaster is connected to LINK Studio. Alternatively, the latest version can be downloaded at nucleuscoffeetools.com/support.

Language settings are simple to access via both the desktop LINK Studio and mobile app, allowing users to switch between languages with ease.

In the LINK Studio, select Options in the toolbar, followed by Languages – after selecting a language, LINK Studio will restart in the chosen language. In the LINK App, navigate to Preferences, and choose from the language options at the bottom of the screen.
